The lions head back plate is 7.5 tall and quite nicely done. The support arm for the candelabra protrudes from his mouth and extends 8.5 from the wall, wrapping into a Phoenix head. Behind the Phoenix is a roman pillar which the (approximately) dozen or so individually cast brass pieces are mounted to. At top of the pillar is a roman helmet decorated with scroll work that holds 1 candle.
It sits above the other candles and adds to the effect created. Below that are the 5 arms, in the shape of trumpets, which sweep elegantly and are tied to the column with a toga.
Below the trumpets are 4 scent items attached at the mid: a roman sword with lion head hilt, a spear, a trumpet, and a mace. Each of the 4 items is cast separately and attached with hidden screws. It appears at one point there were 6 items in total, but 2 are now missing. Below those items are roman shields on both front and back, wrapped with a toga, and secured from behind with a brass floral wing but. There are no breaks or repairs I could find.
Aside from a few small songs and scratches due to age, the only thing wrong is that it's missing the 2 small accent pieces mentioned above. It has a wonderful patina and would clean up very nicely if you chose to do so. Like I said, words can't to this justice.
It really is an incredible piece that draws people to it and I doubt you will likely ever find another one of these again. Feel free to ask questions. Victorian Bronze Wall Sconce Lion Ornate HUGE!
