From a Tucson estate some years ago and a finger ornament of decidedly antique persuasion is this almost certainly Italian solid gold ring with classical micro mosaic set. The 19th Century purity of design here is especially appealing, with the "Roman ruins" depiction forming a perfect foil for the decorative gold work.
This is exactly the sort of thing brought back by well heeled Victorian tourists once upon a time - think of that stroll over to the workshops on the Ponte Vecchio from your respectable penzione in Firenze or a visit to a trusted source on Via dei Coronari in Rome, and you will get the picture. There are no visible marks, so I personally tested this and guarantee it is fine gold, at least 10K (the testing solution I used) and possibly higher. Weight is good for the form at about 5.5 grams on my portable digital scale.Condition is quite good though not absolutely perfect, with a nice aura of time to the gold surfaces and a good look to the micro mosaic artwork. There are no missing tesserae. The goldstone surround framing the mosaic shows some typical surface signs of period duty including the usual small shallow ancient nicks, the most significant of which is at 12 O'Clock (see pics). That said, the mosaic work is absolutely intact. The bottom of the shank shows a fine almost imperceptible partial line at an old jeweler sizing join, mentioned mainly for accuracy.
I'm nitpicking for accuracy and a look at those pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition - in my mind, a superior antique artisan crafted alternative to current everybody has one mall dross. Ring size is about 5 1/4 on my jeweler's ring mandrel. The goldstone framing is about 19x15mm (visible). The actual mosaic picture is about 15x11mm. I'm not sure what else to say, so there you are.
