Victorian 14k Gold Diamond Miniature Portrait Bar Brooch Pin. The tonneau shaped hand painted portrait centered on a bar detailed diamonds and floral decoration. Acid tested 18k & 14k.

Brooch measures approx 3 1/4 inches long. There is minor evidence of dust behind the glass on the portrait May benefit from a professional cleaning. Clasp is in working order. Because of different gold testing practices (acid, electronic and x ray), items stamped 14k may read or actually be between 13.5k-15k gold. Until 1981, manufactures of jewelry could use gold that was 13.5karat or higher and round off, thus still stamping it 14k. This goes for 18k gold also 17.5k or higher. National Gold and Silver Marking Act of 1981.
