I found this incredible couple at a lovely Upstate New York estate belonging to a woman who was a serious doll collector. They stand 6 tall-measured feet to top of head. The height of the womans hat is not included in the measurement. I believe these to be French? They have bisque upper chest plates, arms and legs attached to a cloth body.

The womans hat alone is worth the investment! I have not been able to find another example to compare these to but the estate company who deals in antiques said these are very valuable and highly desirable.
