Large Antique Victorian Relic Reliquary Cross Pendant Bavarian Priest Estate. A wonderful large, mid-Victorian crucifix reliquary pendant, originating from the estate of a priest in Germany. The crucifix theca is made from polished brass and has the figure of the crucified Christ to the front, in relief. The highly detailed back has some of the Instruments of Passion; including Torch used by the arresting officers at the time of the betrayal, Scepter, & Crown of Thorns. The original screw peg to the bottom opens to reveal the interior to both halves.

The interior is all completely original and untouched; one half contains seed pearls, papers, gold wiring, relics relating to 7 saints, including Ursula, Jacob, Barbara, Martin & Fidelis (see photos for detail). The other half holds blue cloth adorned with gold stars and the words AGNUS DEI. (Latin for'lamb of God').

Measurements: the crucifix is 3.1"long (including metal hoop to top and peg to base) and 1.5" wide to arms. A wonderful antique devotional piece that has a real spiritual feel to it.
